BLANKETS | MANUSCRIPT


BLANKETS is a memoir written in fragments, stitched and threaded by an affection for and memories associated with blankets. It explores a woman's experiences of coming-of-age in a midwestern Evangelical Christian community in the 1980s and 90s, struggling as an adult with bipolar disorder, and coping with a young husband's unexpected incurable cancer. Framed by the loss of her mother, the fragments explore self-identity, love, illness, and grief. 

The manuscript includes text and image with 9 original digital collages and is 71 pages with 14,369 words.

BLANKETS THESIS: THREE DIMENSIONAL STUDY

 A component of my thesis for my MFA at PNCA @ Willamette U was to explore a way to interperate my written word, a hybrid memoir, BLANKETS, into a 3-dimensional object. My final concept was created, boxed, and shipped to the school in Portland, where it was given to the annonymous guest artist/author I was paired with for my thesis review.
